Desiree and Andrew have new ideas to share with you about weaving strength with flexibility for a more sustainable and healing practice. Everyone will make progress in this class, even if they have a stiff spine.

Afternoon Session14:00 - 16:30
Fluid and Free: Seated and Supine Poses to Loosen tight lower backs, knees and feet.
Until we have the experience of freedom in these areas of our body, we don’t even realize how much we need these poses. Release stress and holding patterns and experience the freedom that is your birthright.

The Antidote to Text Neck Syndrome: Yoga to Strengthen the Neck, Shoulders and Wrists
Nowadays, almost everyone is dealing with neck and shoulder stiffness due to increased use of technology. Since computers and smartphones are not going away any time soon, the best way to move forward is to strengthen the weak parts and free up the stiff parts.

A New You: Put Everything Into Practice
This class will include a bit of everything, giving everyone a chance to practice the new skills we have been working on over the weekdays. Even if this is the only class you can attend over the weekdays, you will come away with new strengthening work that will greatly benefit you physically and mentally.

Mackenzie Miller Intensive Workshop

9 April (Saturday)
9.30am-12pm : Twist and Shout!
Don't get twisted! Get hip and spend some time loving your hips, hamstrings and low back! Warming up with a sweet smooth flow you'll head into hamstring bliss and have the chance to take flight with your new found mobility. There will be opportunities to enter hand balances like Eka Pada Koundinyasana I & II, Eka Pada Galavasana and Grasshopper traditionally or from an inversion if you like to add extra spice to your practice and uncover new found flexibility and confidence on your hands.

2pm-5pm : Daring Gravity
Leave your fear cap at home and put on your confidence cape! It’s time for take off! In this workshop MacKenzie will teach you the alignment and strength needed to create a strong foundation for your inversion practice. You’ll leave questioning gravity, feeling more confident and empowered both on and off of your mat! All levels welcomed and encouraged!

10 April (Sunday)
9.30am-12pm : Fearless Flying!
Fear is often a major stumbling block for arm balances, but fear no more! We will break it all down into bite-sized pieces and play with some fun variations and transitions. This class is all about getting you on your hands. She will share basic poses to condition your mind and body to progress safely to more advanced arm balancing postures.This workshop will explore arm balances in a safe and approachable way, helping you overcome fears and preconceptions, build core strength, enhance the strength and stability of your shoulders and wrists, improve your focus and concentration, and awaken a greater sense of aliveness.

2pm-5pm : Grow Roots
In this rooted workshop we'll spend time going over the biomechanics of creating a solid base, opening the front line of the body, and cover how to backbend safely. Learn how to build a solid foundation whether you're on your feet or your hands and from that grounded position allow your heart to smile in your backbends. By the end you may find that your toes are capable of getting closer to your head in scorpion without compromising the integrity of your lumbar spine than you thought!

9 November (Monday)

9.30am-12pm : Prepare for take off

Strength, balance, and core stabilization workshop
A workshop designed to build the fundamental foundational strength and engagement necessary to go upside down. Understand the difference between core strength and core stability and how to build both while applying it to your inversions and arm balances. Learn how to control the scapulae and build straight arm scapular strength, the most import thing when it comes to being strong in your inversion practice.

2pm-5pm : Beginner Handstand and Arm Balance

Everything you need to know about how to learn how to do a headstand, forearm stand and handstand. You will learn how to build strength, overcome fear and get upside down; using walls a partner and eventually a freestanding handstand. We will also learn several different arm balances. Understand the foundations to create a solid base and balance on two hands!

10 November (Tuesday)

9.30am-12pm : Intermediate/Advanced Inversions and Transitions

Take your handstand to the next level. Everything you need to know to hold, develop and understand sustained handstands, headstands, forearm stands, and hollow back handstands. We will learn how to float and fly through our Vinyasa and Surya A’s and B’s as well as exercises to strengthen our inversions. Add in some fun new arm balance transitions and one arm holds and this is the perfect workshop for anyone wanting to advance their practice.

2pm-5pm : Beyond Balance Master Inversion Class

A playfully strong Vinyasa class designed to take you on to the arms and upside down. Handstands, forearm stands, headstands and arm balances become the flow as we fly through fun transitions and sequences.

Power of Practice
Intermediate/ Advanced Practice Workshop
February 6-8 (Fri-Sun)

Designed to be a new paradigm in yoga education, The Power of Practice Course uses the love of asana practice as a doorway to inner exploration, self-acceptance, and discernment. Central to this format of learning is the academic discussion of the postures and their sequence coupled with the experiential learning of shared and personal asana practice. Each day will incorporate inspiration, education and perspiration to provide holistic learning experience to experienced practitioners who want to learn how to advance their practice intelligently.

Christina, known for her ability to creatively and clearly synthesize and articulate yogic principles from a variety of traditions will outline the practice sequence in advance and practice with the group while providing demonstrations, explanations and modifications. Attendance at all sessions is recommended.

Morning Sessions will generally focus on the more dynamic work of back bending and arm balancing. The Afternoon Sessions will focus on hip opening, forward bending and inverted postures.

Explore Your Roots to Fly: Emotional Balance
Sometimes our emotions can get the best of us and sometimes our emotions are the best thing for us. Learning to balance our emotions is useful both on and off our yoga mats. Through a variation of hip openers we dig deep and uncover what may be lying hidden within ourselves and excavate the old and bring about the new giving us strength to fly into a vast number of hip focused arm balances. Come and find your emotional (arm) balance! Open to all levels of athletic practitioners.

Bend your Inversion – Inverted Backbends
Come explore the never-ending possibilities of the Inverted Yoga Practice and break the mold, change your perspective on inversions in your practice. Covering the foundational elements for postures like Handstand and Forearm balance, we will build confidence and strength in the shoulders, chest and abdominals. Through floor and standing backbends we will open the upper back, chest and shoulders, as well as the quadriceps and hamstrings. All to strengthen the low back and open our front body for advanced inverted backbends like Scorpion, Hollowback Scorpion, and other advanced backbends both inverted and from the floor.

The Art of Backbending: Spinal Extension vs. Spinal Compression
Through backbends we find one of the deepest forms of expressing an open heart and mind in the asana practice. They are liberating, confrontational and life changing...always in constant flux, but in unison. Backbends are often misunderstood, where “depth” in asana means to find one’s most awe-inspiring backbend. In this workshop we will discover that health and longevity for the spine can be achieved through extension, not compression. Yogis should expect to open and strengthen their upper back, shoulders, thoracic and lumbar spine and well as side body. Practicing through basic backbends like upward facing dog, upward facing bow and others, yogis will carve their path into more advanced backbends like handstand/forearm balance scorpion and hollowback. This is for all levels!

Ultimate Expression of Yoga Practice (co-teach with Robert)

Well during this workshop you can not only learn how to approach advanced poses such as Adho Mudha Vrksasana (handstand) but also capture the fullest expression of the pose during the peak of your practice.
International Yogis, Dice Iida-Klein and Briohny Smyth are teaming up with world renown photographer, Robert Sturman for a once in a lifetime workshop in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at Inspired Yoga.
As an attendee you will learn the fundamental alignment points for advanced asanas through a thorough study of foundational asanas like downward facing dog, plank, chatturanga and the dynamic interlinked movements of the yoga vinyasa. Many alignment points of advanced asanas can be seen in these fundamental postures, and these two yogis are the perfect pair to teach you to move past your fears into the freedom of flight.

Press On: Elements of the Press
This workshop is all about the PRESS! Learning to hold handstand or headstand is hard, but learning to enter handstand and headstand using minimal or no momentum is even more challenging. Yogis will learn to use props like blankets and blocks to help enter their inversions in a smooth and controlled manner. Press on yogis!

Bryce Yoga’s Signature Inverted Flow Practice (Master Class)
All forms of the asana practice are variations of moving meditation. Using elements of vinyasa flow, paired with arm balances and inversions, we link our breath with movement giving ourselves acute focus on the present moment and freeing ourselves from distractions of the past and future. Join Dice and Bri in this fun but challenging flow class where you will use your breath, mind and body to flow through surya namaskars, strong standing postures, arm balances and inversions, backbends, twists and seated folds.
